We are on day 3 of our new life in Manila, Philippines.
Good things: everyone brought their own pillows which has been a huge comfort (literally); Sophia had a visit from the International Tooth Fairy - she lost her 2nd tooth here at the hotel and got 100 pesos for it! Our new home looks great and the improvements we requested are in order. The hotel we are living in for the next 4-6 weeks placed us in the newly renovated tower so new pillows, sheets, mattresses, bathrooms - very nice, but not too posh for our little friends.
Not so good things: We can't move into our new home as our shipment hasn't left CA yet, but should hopefully be here at the end of the month, maybe in time for my birthday! The time difference/jet lag is wreaking havoc with the little ones sleep schedule - i.e. everyone has been up since 2:45 AM. We've been advised to be very careful of dengue fever, there's an epidemic so if any of us runs a high fever for more than a few days, we'll need to go to hospital. We just avoid going out at dawn & dusk and brought lots of Off Bug spray :)
Adam starts work tomorrow and I will take Sophia to the Brent International School for her placement tests for kindergarten. We've unpacked our suitcases, found a grocery store that sells some pretty good wine, and brought enough toys to entertain the troops for a while till our shipment arrives.
We're going to meet some friends at the club to go swimming today. Hope this finds you doing well. Please know we tried to see everyone we could before we left, but the sand in the hour glass ran out on us much more quickly that we expected and we barely made it out of the states with everything we needed - whew!
Bahala na!
H-A-S-A (we miss you Z)
