Blind WIne Tasting Challenge - Jan. 23, 2010

Well, the 1st Annual Blind Wine Tasting results are in - and everyone has different taste in wine (surprise!) We enjoyed having our crew over to enjoy a Chardonnay heavy (7 varieties) blind tasting followed by 4 Cabernets - ranging from "swill" to "the good Stuff" (note - next time stick to one varietal...) We had a great time and are already looking forward to our next tasting - Heather votes for Zin next round!

Here are the very unbiased notes from Adam, Manya and Heather - as you can see the results vary quite a bit. Feel free to utilize or ignore for your next wine purchase!

CHARDONNAY

A) Smoking Loon 2007 –

a. “1 star – yuk”

b. “0.5 stars - grrlaacghh – yuk”

c. “1 star - bitter, after taste, poopy”

B) Frei Brothers Reserve 2007 –

a. “2 stars”

b. “5 stars – mmmmmmmm yum….”

c. “1 star – swill, yuk, stank”

C) Charles Shaw 2008 –

a. “4 stars”

b. “2 stars - eh, meehhh ”

c. “2 stars – light, fruity/tangy, weird after taste”

D) Rare Earth Organic 2007 –

a. “3/5 stars”

b. “4.5 stars - me likie – smooth and buttery”

c. “3 stars – middle of road, good, not exciting, dry, like but not WOW”

E) Fetzer 2008 –

a. “3 stars”

b. “2 stars - not great, not terrible, OK”

c. “3 stars – buttery, some bouquet, not quite as good as F (La Crema)”

F) La Crema 2007 –

a. “2.5 stars”

b. “1 star/nicer the next day 3 stars (creamy, smooth)”

c. “4 stars – bouquet, buttery, creamy”

G) Stone Street 2006 –
